Research Excisting Product - Amelie Magazine Front Cover

Empire's Special front cover for Amelie which featured Empire's in a list of "The 500 Greatest Movies Of All Time" meaning it was given a feature cover for the magazine.

- This front cover doesn't fit all the conventions, as it is a special cover and so only features a picture of the movie that is heading this issue, it does however stick to conventions by having the Masthead at the top like normal in big bold red lettering like most Empire magazines do.
It's a very simple front cover with only a limited amount of information but as it is a special cover, Empires loyal readers would understand why as it is clearly stated as one of the 100 limited covers to choose from and the simplicity of the cover may also draw readers to it, as they will recognise the image,if they already knew the film.

- This front cover only uses one picture, a still or a promotional shot from the film Amelie, which is what the issue of empire is concentrating on. This shot is a close up, with minimal detail, but as it's an iconic image people would be automatically drawn to it on a shelf.
- There is also a very simple colour scheme with this magazine as it is mainly black and red, with some gold. The black and red on the front cover is very dark and could be seen as dull, but as it may stand out on shelves full of bright colours, it also helps to compliment the picture on this front cover very well.

- This cover fits in very well with Empire's target audience, who would be very in to there films, as that is mainly what Empire's content is about and so to use a famous image of the film would help film lovers to choose Empire as the recognise the film and when they see it is a special of the 500 greatest movie of all time, this would attract their attention further, which is what Empire want to do.
