Editing Four - 26/11/2010

I was working completely on protools today, putting together all the ideas i have had for the soundtrack, after realising that my orignal idea may not work to full effect. I have found used sound effects along with a recorded guitar part section that i recorded on to protools myself.
The opening section for the music was 30 seconds long, i kept this section very similar to my original idea of having soft guitar music playing in the background, amazingly a first draft of the finger picking fitted the opening half of the trailer perfectly. I felt it was to plain though and didn't build up enough tension, so i added a sound effect of a record player static, i though this made the music seem old and creepy, adding the right atmosphere. At first the static was to loud against the music, so i turned the static down and brought the decibels of the guitar piece up using the gain tool on protools, this ment i could get it perfect.
This music stops as the gate closes, i thought this was a god stopping place, as it is sudden and juxtaposes against the light music. after this comes a heart beat to build tension, along with a mans breathing, to make it seem like some one is watching Kate. These are all be from found sound effects.
At the start of the trailer it shows a lovely street scene, which is suddenly interrupted by and eye for about two seconds, this was to make people jump and build tension, i felt it needed a bit more though to help, so i am adding sound effects when the eye appears, either like a record player scratch or an electric flutter 2, i think the electric flutter 2 works best as it is more obvious and dramatic adding to the genre of Thriller and Horror.
